Dance Collective

Today was quite a happening day...went down to ACS (barker road) to help out in an event, "Dance Collective"...did sound for the concert..was fun to see the dancers from different churches come together and perform...and also dance as a form of worship...cool..how amazing that we can worship God in so many different ways.
My job was quite stressful..doing sound this year is more difficult compared to last year...the systems are more advance..and there are more CDs for me to use this year...almost mixed the different tracks..but thank God i didnt.
There will be an appreciation dinner on Sunday..looking forward. :-)

Internship Programme

Went down for my internship Orientation today at the Marriot Hotel. I really respect this organization so much...and is definiately a place i want to work in. Why? i'll explain further...but first, a brief history of Marriot.

Seventy-Five years ago J. Willard and Alice Sheets started a small business. They travelled from Utah to pursue the "American Dream". With his bride "Alice" by his side, they opened a nine-stool root beer stand in Washington D.C. (Which is "A&W") also means Alice and Willard. Alice did the daily routines everyday. Not only she sell root beer, served as chief bookkeeper and cashier. Later, when the weather turned cold, Alice suggested adding hot mexican food to the menu, and the "Hot Shoppe" was born. Two decades later, in 1957, the first Hotel opened- The Twin Bridges in Arlington, Virginia.

I am very happy to join the Marriot...because Marriot's culture is to treat each other as family..many hotels say that too...but few of them are able to act what they said...and welfare is very important to me...i want to spend my time being happy in Marriot. Marriot is also transparent to all of their employees....We are allow to write to the GM or see him and even write to the Headquarters in Washinton DC...or call HQ for free...all postage and fees will be taken care of. As i said..we are all one big family in Marriot.we call our GM by their first name...there is no such thing as a Mr or Mrs. Marriot also allows their associates to know the exact figures the company make right down to the dollars and cents.!! Cool..
I was surprised Marriot bought over Ritz Carlton Hotel five years ago..when Ritz Carlton is not doing well..cool..I can work in Ritz Carlton too in future.
One cool fact, Marriot only sells and offer the guests Pepsi...the minibars, the lounge and restaurants all serve only Pepsi. Becos in the past, when Marriot is not doing well..Marriot apporached many organizations for help...Pepsi was the only company which was willing to help..and loaned a few million dollars...so Marriot wants to remember that kindness and repay them by only offering Pepsi..

I also got my Marriot Card. hehehe...its a huge discount card..i can eat in the F&B outlets in Marriot with 50% discount and also can shop at Tangs for 15% discounts.!!! wooo...
I also can use this card in 1bt 25 Clinics and 15 dental clinics islandwide.!!
Thats not all...i also can use this card at some salons and bookstore!!

I am really thankful for such an opporunity to work in a great organization..
I still remember how i asked God to bless me with one good hotel..and here it is..i want to thank God for all these...

A busy day, i say....went round singapore to settle necessary stuff, Ie Liang went to renouce his HongKong citizenship and he got to get different documents at different places...luckily he rides...as it really shortens travelling time. i also went to school to pass a copy of my attachment contract and to extend my passport. About 5.30pm, Liang and I had a crazy idea..we want to go Johor Bahru! and decided to ride there..hhaha.reached the checkpoint..guess what? we queued for one hour to get to customs...the route from the start of the checkpoint to the customs was a killer..not only its jammed, the place is also filled with smoke and fumes with petrol scent...one could get poison from such a polluted environment. Anyway...we later cleared the customs feeling dirty from all the fumes.
Our purpose of going to JB is for a movie...ask why? because we had no money to go orchard..hah...and we knew JB movie tixs are cheaper. As we were travelling we kinda lost our way..so i suggested that we go to a hotel to ask for directions or a map..as students of hotel management....we believed that the staffs are willing to help, in our case, we found Hyatt Hotel...(not bad huh..) Later, we got the map and directions from a staff...we continued our way to the nearest shopping centre, which is also the most popular shopping centre in JB...It was suggested by the hotel staff...As we continue our journey to the shopping centre called "CitySquare"...we kinda lost our way and ended up in a petrol kiosk trying to communicate with a person that don't speak much english...we knew we were lost.but by God's grace..we saw a chinese man and approached him..he directed us in mandarin..and soon we reach our destination. :-)
Our motivation was from a VCD we bought a few days ago called.."Harold and Kuma - Goes to White Castle"..Liang kept us motivated by renaming it to "Tom and Ie Liang - Goes to CitySquare" haha...For Harold and Kuma, their objective is to eat burgers...For us..its the movies!!!

Alright in CitySquare...everything was all fun...although by the time we reached most shop closed...but the cinema is still open..hehe...bought 2 tixs to Batman! which cost 6RM each...that is like $3 SDG!!!!! hahaha...where on earth can u find such in SINGAPORE??! thats not all ...we had Mcdonalds for dinner too...it cost 8RM for a BigMac Meal.!!!! which cost abt $4SDG...!! Total Expenses..is about 14RM!!!! each!! how cool!..hah..

I am really very happy..and i also would say..that at times there are tensions between friendships..but this trip has taught us alot....and this trip was fulfilling.
A great DAY!

Thank God...only through Him all things can change.
Ie Liang accepted Christ today..after an altar call. I really glad..Me, Josh, Jon prayed for him and jon helped in the necessary documents. After 2 years of knowing Liang, i'm glad that he is my brother in Christ..I cried when Ie Liang said "yes"..i know upon saying that, the Lord and holy spirit are already doing the good work in him. I felt that joy and also felt God's great mercy on sinners like us..willing to accept us no matter how bad we were. 18 june..a significant day.

After church, all of us went down to "HOME", previously known as "MadMonks"...went down for a gig which Surreal played. Was fun..haha had a good day today. :-)
Praise God.
