Ephesians 6 : 10-18
The Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
F19 against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--
19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.
Spartans! were what I was reminded of when i was reading this chapter. Some historical background i've learnt.
These warriors of the classical world, spend their lives defending their country (Just like NS regulars). These warriors have been training since 7 years old, they spent their younger days training to be the elites and they can only get married when they are 30 years old.
All these made them so different from the Romans and the other soldiers.
The armor of the spartan consists a helmet (with hairs somewhat like a mohawk that is extended from the right to the left side of the helm) , breastplate made of thick leather (which is lighter) and greaves ( for covering the feet and protecting the shin of the legs
).
Spartan's weapons are tower shields, javelin for close combat and short sword at the side.
In relation to the Christian Life , we are like Spartans..we are different compared to others, in a sense that we have different beliefs and we are like the elites. We are also constantly on the battleground fighting against our enemies. Just like the spartans, we must always stick together during battles, looking out for each other and moving together jus like how the ancient warriors move in formations.
Together we can win this battle.
Have u put on your armor?
